Good food and hospitality
We proudly honor our family history at Rosen Centre® by naming many of our food and beverage offerings after cherished memories and relatives. Introducing Sam & Bubbe’s™, a tribute to our founder Harris Rosen’s maternal grandparents, Sam and Rose “Bubbe” Rosenhaus—“Bubbe” meaning grandma in Yiddish.
The delicious food and warm hospitality you enjoy echo Bubbe’s kitchen. A native of Austria/Hungary, she was celebrated for her homemade dishes and exceptional hosting skills. Our menu, featuring specialty drinks and traditional Jewish noshes, is inspired by Bubbe’s legacy. During the Great Depression, she even made potato vodka in the family bathtub to help make ends meet.
Living in New York City’s Lower East Side, the Rosenhaus family enjoyed sumptuous dinners on Friday evenings, especially with the sounds of Hungarian, German, and Yiddish.
Sam, a barrel-maker, also scraped the bottoms of barrels from Standard Oil, jokingly claiming to be in the “oil” business. He once told his grandson, Harris, about his special “gene,” which Harris initially thought referred to “jeans.” He later realized it meant an “entrepreneurial gene,” foreshadowing his own business ventures. Thanks to this rich history, you can savor Bubbe’s favorite noshes. Grab a table, enjoy a cocktail and choose from menu selections from Harry’s, Banshoo and 98Forty.
